What Is the PEXX eSIM service?

Purpose

This article explains how PEXX mobile connectivity works in practical terms so customers can prepare before they travel or use data away from home.

Key Points

  • PEXX offers mobile data only using an eSIM inside the PEXX app journey.

  • An eSIM is built into most modern phones — no plastic SIM to insert.

  • Your allowances, covered countries, and plans are defined by PEXX and shown in the PEXX app.

  • Fixed bundles: the 30-day period starts at purchase (see your plan card for the exact end time).

  • Unlimited daily plan: allowances and billing are tied to purchase; mobile service is designed to go live when you arrive in your destination country.

  • You keep one eSIM on the phone — you can delete a plan and buy another in the app without getting a new physical profile each time.

  • After installation, you usually must enable data roaming and set the eSIM as your mobile data line before data works abroad.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM already built into many smartphones. With PEXX you install and manage the profile from the PEXX app; your phone then shows the usual system prompts to add the cellular plan. Your phone can often use your regular SIM and the eSIM at the same time — so you can keep your usual number for calls and SMS on your home SIM while using the PEXX eSIM line for data only.

Purchase, install, and travel: what happens when?

Stage

What to know

Purchase

On fixed bundles (1 / 3 / 5 / 10 / 20 GB), the 30-day validity window starts at purchase, not when you first use data. Unlimited daily plan rules also reference purchase in the app.

Install the profile

Run this on stable WiFi, ideally before you travel, so the OS can download the profile without airport stress. Installing early does not reset or replace that purchase-based timer on fixed bundles.

Arrive in destination

Data service is designed to activate when you land in the country your plan covers. If you have no data after arrival, check Setting Up Your PEXX eSIM for Internet, then Troubleshooting: No Internet After Installing Your eSIM (PEXX).

Unlimited daily reminder: 5 GB per calendar day at full speed, then 512 kbps for the rest of that day — same purchase and land-to-use pattern as above.

Where do I pick countries and a plan?

In the PEXX app:

  1. Tap eSIM on the rewards page

  2. Tap Countries

  3. Tap GB/days (or the equivalent) to choose your bundle size

  4. Continue to install / activation when prompted

What does the PEXX eSIM include?

You manage everything in the PEXX app. Typical retail offers include:

Data size

Notes

1 GB, 3 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB

The 30-day validity period starts at purchase (your plan card shows time remaining). Install the profile on WiFi before travel if you can; data is intended to work when you reach your destination.

Unlimited (daily)

5 GB per calendar day at full speed, then 512 kbps for the rest of that day. Tied to purchase for plan rules; service activates when you land in your destination.

You can delete an existing plan in the app and buy a new plan on the same eSIM when you want a different bundle or a clean slate.

Check the PEXX app for anything specific to your account.

Important limitations

  • One eSIM profile on the device — new purchases reuse that profile; you do not get a new eSIM identity every time you buy another bundle (unless PEXX replaces it for technical reasons).

  • One device — you cannot freely “move” the profile to another phone like a plastic SIM. If you change device, contact PEXX support.

  • Data only. PEXX does not supply traditional voice or SMS on the eSIM line. Keep your regular SIM if you need normal calls and texts; use data apps (WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc.) over the PEXX line if you like.

  • Eligibility and add-ons are controlled by PEXX. If something is missing or unclear, PEXX support is the right contact.

What do I need to do after installation?

Installing the profile is only the first step. On most phones you must:

  1. Set the PEXX eSIM as your preferred line for mobile data

  2. Enable data roaming on that eSIM line

See Setting Up Your PEXX eSIM for Internet for step-by-step instructions.
