Purpose
Check whether your phone supports eSIM before you rely on it for travel or work so you can resolve issues in advance with PEXX if needed.
Key Points
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier unlocked.
Most iPhones from XR (2018) onwards and many Android flagships from 2020 onwards support eSIM.
Phones purchased in Mainland China often do not support eSIM.
If your phone is not compatible, contact PEXX support to discuss options.
Requirements
To use a PEXX eSIM plan, your phone must meet both conditions:
eSIM hardware support — Your phone has a built-in eSIM chip.
Carrier unlocked — Your phone is not restricted to a single mobile provider.
How to check for eSIM support
iPhone
Go to Settings > General > About.
Look for a field labelled EID. If you see a 32-digit number, your phone supports eSIM.
While there, check Carrier Lock — it should say "No SIM restrictions."
Alternatively:
Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data).
If you see Add eSIM, your phone supports it.
Android (Samsung)
Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager.
If you see Add eSIM, your phone supports it.
Android (Google Pixel)
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs.
Tap + and look for "Download a SIM instead?"
Android (other brands)
Open the Phone app.
Dial *#06#.
Look for a 32-digit EID number. If it appears, your phone supports eSIM.
Compatible Devices (examples)
Device support changes frequently. Treat this list as a guide, not a guarantee for every region or SKU.

iPhone XR, XS, XS Max
iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
iPhone SE (2nd gen 2020, 3rd gen 2022)
iPhone 12 through 17 series (Plus / Pro / Pro Max and other regional SKUs — if unsure, use Settings and check for Add eSIM as above)
Note: iPhones purchased in Mainland China often do not support eSIM.
Samsung
Galaxy S20 series and newer, Z Flip / Z Fold, many A-series (region-dependent)
Galaxy Note 20 series
Note: Some regional variants (e.g. certain US S20/S21 units, China/HK/TW SKUs) may not support eSIM.
Google Pixel
Pixel 3 and newer, Pixel Fold / Pro Fold lines (region-dependent)
Other brands
Many flagship devices from Xiaomi, Motorola, Sony, OPPO, OnePlus, Huawei (non-China SKUs), and Honor support eSIM — region-dependent.
Important: If your phone was purchased outside your home market, confirm with the manufacturer or PEXX support.
Is your phone carrier-locked?
A carrier-locked phone only works with the provider it was sold through. If your phone is locked, eSIM installation can fail.
How to check
iPhone: Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock — should say "No SIM restrictions."
Android: Try a SIM from another carrier. Messages like "SIM not supported" or "Network unlock code required" suggest a lock.
How to unlock
Contact the carrier your phone was purchased from. Policies vary (payment status, minimum time on network, etc.).
My phone is not compatible — what should I do?
Contact PEXX support. We can advise on alternatives (different device, another product option, or timing).
